Volunteer Training
Now Available!
IF you would like to utilize your
talents to help survivors of domestic violence in a tangible
way, consider taking the 60-hour domestic violence training.
Training consists of 40 hours of
classroom education on the history, dynamics, and various issues
affecting victims and survivors, followed by 20 hours of 'on the
job' training...or more until you feel comfortable with whatever
area you have chosen to work in.
Once you have completed the
training, you would be eligible to directly help meet our
clients needs, such as.
transport clients on goal related trips
provide
mentoring on a variety of topics such as meal preparation,
budgeting, job search skills, and any other talents you wish
to share
provide
child care when client needs to attend to goals
answer
the phones
help out
with field trips and holiday events
assist
with support groups
assist
with legal advocacy
assist
with medical advocacy
many
other possibilities as needed
The 40 hour
segment of the volunteer training begins Tuesday, June 1, 2010
and will continue each Tuesday and Thursday evening (6:00 PM to
9:15 PM) until Tuesday, July 20, 2010.
The training
is free but you must register by Tuesday, May 25, 2010.

(KCCADV) is a
not-for-profit organization that has been providing
comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence for over
30 years. Although
Harbor Houses
primary clients are
women and children in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties in
Illinois, it also provides shelter to women seeking refuge from
domestic violence from other parts of the state, country, and
world.
