Community Education

community education

Harbor House offers community education on issues relevant to domestic violence and teen dating violence. Staff members are available to speak to civic and government organizations, college and high school classes, and in a variety of other settings.

Harbor House works to empower communities in Kankakee and Iroquois Counties to identify and prevent domestic abuse. The mission and services focus on a day when all homes are safe!

According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. This equates to more than 10 million women and men annually.

Domestic violence affects more than the victim and abuser. It has a ripple effect throughout the community. It affects children (and all their future relationships), neighbors, law enforcement, schools, businesses, employers, and more.

Contact Harbor House today to schedule a presentation about domestic violence for your business, school, civic organization, or other kind of group. Take the opportunity to learn more about how domestic violence affects everyone, what to do if you are in an abusive relationship, and other details.
