The holidays should be a time of warmth, comfort, and joy. But for many survivors of domestic violence, they can be filled with pain and uncertainty.
That is why Harbor House created the Holiday Market, a space where survivors can rediscover hope and the simple joy of giving and receiving during the holiday season. And we are inviting you to be a part of this!
The Harbor House Holiday Market aims to create a survivor-centered “shopping” experience, allowing participants to choose presents (free of charge!) for individuals in their household in a safe, private, and holiday-themed environment. Markets will be set up in Kankakee AND Iroquois Counties.
By offering a space where they can choose gifts for themselves and members of their household, we hope to foster a sense of autonomy and empowerment. We also hope that some festive cheer offers some levity during a season that can be particularly challenging.
To ensure our clients have a festive holiday, we are reaching out to our community members to help us stock this new shopping space with a variety of presents. We are asking you to donate items for our Harbor House Holiday Market program.
